The Russian Federation made concessions to the fishermen of Ireland . Military exercises scheduled for February 3-8 have been moved to another area.
This was reported by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Ireland on Twitter.
According to the report, after tough statements by Irish fishermen due to military exercises off the southern coast of the country, Russia agreed to move the maneuvers outside the exclusive economic zone of Ireland.
In confirmation of this decision, the Russian Embassy published a letter stating that the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, decided to move the military exercises to another area.
As UNIAN previously reported, Patrick Murphy, chief executive officer of the association of fishermen of the south and west of Ireland, announced the intention of the members of the organization to interfere with the military exercises of the Russian Federation . Fishermen advocate for the conservation of biodiversity.
The association indicated that it had twice held conversations with the Russian embassy in Dublin. Russian diplomats assured that the entry of fishing vessels into the exercise zone was “reckless.” The association is outraged that the exercises affect the waters of Ireland, where fishermen have every right to fish.
