Today, May 17, the Russian terrorist army launched a missile attack on the Odessa region, damage to civilian infrastructure and injuries are known.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, in Odessa the first explosion occurred at approximately 15.20. This happened a short time after the air raid warning was announced. The Defense Forces of southern Ukraine warned that there was significant activity of enemy tactical aviation in the southern and northeastern directions.
The head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper and the mayor of the regional center Gennady Trukhanov noted that people need to stay in safe places. After some time, several more explosions were heard. On social networks, eyewitnesses reported that smoke was rising at the arrival site.
Subsequently, the head of the Regional State Administration announced a missile attack in the Odessa region. “In the Odessa region, there was a strong fire at the site where one of the missiles hit. Civilian infrastructure was damaged. Five casualties are known. Three people with injuries were hospitalized, two more were treated on the spot,” Kiper said .
Trukhanov also reported about the victims. “It is preliminary known that three people were injured as a result of the attack. They were taken to one of the city hospitals and are receiving all the necessary medical care,” the mayor added.

Updated at 18:40: According to the press service of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, at about 15:20 the Russian armed forces launched a missile strike on the civilian infrastructure of the Odessa region. As a result of the attack, people were injured to varying degrees of severity. Warehouses of private food industry enterprises were destroyed.
Now the inspection of the crime scene continues, prosecutors and an investigative team are working there. An investigation has been launched into violations of the laws and customs of war.
Updated at 19:20: Kiper subsequently reported that a person had died as a result of a Russian attack in the Odessa region. The UNIAN prosecutor’s office clarified that the deceased was pulled out from under the rubble.
“The number of wounded has increased to eight people. Five of them are in a moderate condition in the hospital, the rest received assistance on the spot. All relevant services are working, law enforcement officers are recording the consequences of another crime by the Russians,” the official added.
