Search and rescue operations continue.

On Friday, January 3, the Russian Federation’s invading army launched missile strikes on Chernigov , with at least one casualty reported so far.

At 16:31, the head of the Chernihiv city military administration, Dmitry Brizhinsky, wrote in his Telegram channel about a rocket explosion in the outskirts of the city. He later reported that the occupiers carried out a group missile strike. According to preliminary data, two private houses were destroyed as a result of the attack. One civilian was injured.

Let us recall that before the shelling, the Ukrainian Air Force Command warned of the threat of ballistics from Kursk. They recorded high-speed targets in the Rivne, Chernihiv, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In addition, there are still Russian attack drones in the skies of Ukraine.

Updated at 21:00 : Chief of the Chernihiv OVA Vyacheslav Chaus said on the telethon that the shelling of Chernihiv began at 16:20. Three ballistic missiles arrived at intervals of 15 minutes.

The Russians killed a man born in 1952, and four others were injured. Three of the victims received medical assistance at the scene, and the fourth was hospitalized.

Chaus noted that the search and rescue operation is ongoing, and he does not rule out that there may be more victims. Pyrotechnicians will be working at the site, because the rockets contained cluster parts, and therefore dangerous unexploded elements may remain.

The occupiers could have used Iskander-M missiles because large craters formed at the site of the shelling. Two houses were completely destroyed, and about 10 more were damaged.

Updated at 17:50 : The Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of a triple missile strike on a residential area on the outskirts of Chernihiv, there is significant damage to several houses:

“We already know of one dead person. There are wounded. Search and rescue operations are continuing.”

Strikes on Ukraine

As UNIAN reported, on January 1, the Russian occupation army attacked the Ukrainian capital . As a result of this attack, destruction was recorded in the Svyatoshinsky and Pechersky districts of the city.

Seven people are known to have been injured and two killed. The occupiers killed the famous Kyiv scientists Igor Zima and his wife Lesya Sokur.
