The Kremlin also sets deadlines for its military for the final occupation of Donbas – they consider them unrealistic.

The Russian occupiers are planning a new offensive in the direction of Kyiv and Chernihiv, but the Defense Forces of Ukraine have not yet recorded the creation of relevant offensive groups. This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Brigadier General Pavlo Palisa, UNIAN reports.

“We really received information from intelligence, verified from several sources, that the military leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation received a task from the political leadership to plan a similar operation in several options in the direction of Kyiv and Chernihiv. I ask you to note: plan and prepare. That is, indeed, several options were considered there,” says Palisa.

At the same time, the Defense Forces are ready for any development of events, and the enemy’s plans remain just plans for now.

“Accordingly, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has developed possible options for response, defense, protection and counteraction to these measures. At the moment, we do not see the creation of an offensive group in these areas. The priority task for us is to prevent the creation of conditions for the Russians to be able to launch any offensive actions at all,” explains Palisa.

Moscow also wants to create a “buffer zone” in northern Ukraine.

“The same plans remain for the creation of a buffer zone in Kharkiv and Sumy regions, and Chernihiv – partially, to a depth of up to 20 kilometers and with the possibility of its further expansion. The increase in this buffer zone is primarily due to changes in the technical and tactical-technical characteristics of unmanned aerial vehicles. Relatively speaking, the kill zone is growing, the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles are growing,” says Palisa.

The complete occupation of Donbas has also been part of the enemy’s plans since the very beginning of the war. However, the brigadier general does not consider these efforts realistic.

“The political leadership of the Russian Federation sets the military leadership the task of resolving the Donbas issue, that is, reaching the administrative borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, by December 31 of this year. In return, the military leadership convinces the political leadership of the unreality of fulfilling this task within the specified deadline. On the contrary, they are asking for a deadline of March 31. My subjective opinion: even by March 31, this is an unrealistic picture,” states Palisa.
