Russia is not going to discuss the status of the occupied Ukrainian territories , which it has already written into its constitution. This was stated by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“The territories that became subjects of the federation and are recorded in the Constitution of our country are an integral part of Russia, this is an absolutely indisputable and non-discussable fact,” he said.
Commenting on the meeting of Russian and American diplomats in Istanbul, Peskov noted that no one expects easy and quick solutions in relations between Russia and the United States.
At the same time, he said, the position of US President Donald Trump will not complicate the negotiations between Russia and the US, he “speaks himself and is ready to listen to others” – this distinguishes the current administration from the previous one.
Peskov also said that Russia and the United States have “broad scope for cooperation,” but there are no substantive discussions yet.
