Russia is helpless: what is Ukraine’s strategic advantage?

A beautiful infographic prepared by the Texty project based on data from the international initiative ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data) – strikes by Russian missiles, aircraft, artillery, and drones on Ukraine in a little over a year.

It is clearly visible that Ukraine has a deep rear and Russia is completely helpless to influence it with its weapons.

There are entire regions, cities, and localities that have never seen war or strikes at all.

First, it complements why Russia is pursuing terror tactics by striking civilian infrastructure: it is simply unable to live up to its own claims.

In 2022, the Kremlin promised to bomb the border with Poland and destroy all supplies – but this did not even come close to happening.

Secondly, one of Ukraine’s strengths is clearly visible: its scale.

As the largest country in Europe, it has the space to organize infrastructure and underground plants, for example, in the Carpathians.

And this is already happening.

The scant official photos that Kyiv occasionally publishes show that factories, warehouses, and workshops for the production of missiles and drones are apparently located underground.

Ukraine is a large country, and this is a strategic advantage.

It would be a sin not to use it.

For example, we, in tiny Israel, simply do not have such a “bonus”: geography leaves no depth, and this forces us to always wage war on enemy territory.

One way or another, war must always be moved to enemy territory and fought there – regardless of the size of your country.

It’s just that we, in Israel, simply have no other choice (like the same “Motti” tactic, for example).

  1. We hate the constant strikes on civilian targets. We hate the constant, albeit small, gains on the battlefield. We hate the constant replenishment of cheap meat in the mafia army. We hate the constant replenishment of their heavy equipment.
But, mafia land is indeed helpless in a way. It cannot take large swaths of land anymore. It does not have enough strength. Ukraine can keep on relinquishing small bits of land for mafia meat and material until the mafia state is exhausted. Its economy is already sucking fumes, and the low oil price will demand its payback. It’s only a matter of time before the shithole peters out in its track.

  2. Maybe Im wrong but as I recall they only took large swaths of land during the initial invasion with very little resistance deployed, except at the airport and when they ran into Azov in the south, who stopped them in their tracks. Since then, the line of contact has been mostly static. Russia had nothing, and still has nothing in the face of strong defence. Theyve blown their load, they are hopeless and helpless orcs.

    • Indeed, Mike, that’s true. And every measure they undertook to change their plight had fizzled out to nothingness and causing an increase in loses.
