The Mi-28 can destroy manpower, tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as low-speed air targets.

Visual evidence has emerged of Russian Mi-28NE attack helicopter deliveries to Iran . Defense Express experts highlighted the photographs posted online .

It is noted that this is the first batch of helicopters that recently arrived in the country. One piece of evidence cited is a report from a reporter for the Iranian state media outlet Tasnim News.

Defense Express experts point out that the helicopter in the photo is in a disassembled state, typical for transport. Therefore, although there is no precise information, the images indicate that the aircraft was likely received very recently.

Some social media users have geolocated the Russian helicopters photographed. It turns out they are hangars belonging to the Pars Aerospace Services Company in Tehran.

The military portal recalls that the delivery of the Mi-28NE, along with fourth-generation Su-35S fighters, to Iran was officially announced back in November 2023, although rumors about it had been circulating since January of that year.

Experts believe the Russians could have supplied either used helicopters or new ones. The latter option appears more plausible, as the Iranians were likely expecting new aircraft.

Overall, the Mi-28NE could be a significant boost for Iran. Its helicopter fleet currently consists of up to 50 AH-1J Cobras and an unknown number of single-seat HESA Shahed 285 light helicopters, based on the Bell 206. These are obsolete helicopters that would have little impact on the course of military operations.

  1. This seems to indicate that cash flow (I hate to use the word) trumps orc blood flow at the front. Or guessing the towel heads are asking for their money back for non-delivery… who knows…
