Moscow benefits from prolonging the conflict in the Middle East.

Russia is expanding its support for Iran amid the military operation by the United States and Israel in the Middle East. In particular, Moscow has increased its intelligence sharing with Tehran.

The Wall Street Journal reported this,  citing sources familiar with the matter. It states that Russia is providing Iran with satellite imagery and advanced drone technology to help Tehran strike US forces in the region.

According to the interlocutors, such support includes the provision of components for modified Shahed drones designed to improve communications, navigation, and targeting.

In addition, Moscow advises Tehran on the tactics of using drones, given the experience of using drones in the war against Ukraine. The aggressor country provides its partner with tactical recommendations on how many drones should be used in operations and from what altitude they should strike. It is believed that with the assistance of Moscow, Iran carried out strikes on American radar systems in the Persian Gulf.

One official said the data Russia is providing to Iran comes from a satellite network operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces. Military analysts say Iran’s strikes are very similar to Russia’s tactics in Ukraine.
