On the night of May 16, Russia carried out a massive drone strike on the south of the Odessa region, in particular the city of Izmail , causing casualties. According to the head of the Odessa OVA, Oleg Kiper, residential and port infrastructure was damaged.
“A UAV hit a five-story residential building. The facade and glazing were damaged, the balconies and the car shop on the first floor caught fire. In addition, a one-story residential building was damaged. Unfortunately, two people were injured there,” the official said.
The attack also damaged port infrastructure – a warehouse and an administrative building. The windows were broken.
According to the Izmail District State Administration, the enemy launched an attack on the territory of the district at night.

Critical infrastructure and residential buildings in the city of Izmail were hit.
“Unfortunately, there are victims, they are being provided with the necessary medical assistance. No serious injuries have been recorded,” the report says.
The strikes also damaged overhead lines, which resulted in power outages in 39 settlements in the Izmail district. 22,662 subscribers remain without electricity.
Currently, energy workers are working on restoration. Specialized services are eliminating the consequences of the attack and recording the damage.

At the same time, the RDA notes that air defense forces shot down most of the enemy targets on their approach to the city.
According to Izmail Mayor Andriy Abramchenko, the aggressor once again subjected the city to a massive UAV attack.
“Infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and Izmail Gymnasium No. 14 with an elementary school were damaged… Currently, working groups are documenting the consequences of the shelling and the extent of damage,” Abramchenko said.
