Russian intelligence services failed at the start of a full-scale invasion, according to the head of Ukrainian intelligence.

Approaching the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion and, in fact, the 11th anniversary of the war, the leadership of the Russian Federation realized what a terrible mistake it made in 2022. This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, during the Forum “Ukraine. Year 2025”.

“Why terrible? Because they admitted that they were basing it on absolutely false data. This is a complete failure of their intelligence services, which in turn were basing it on the data of agents who worked here in Ukraine. In fact, huge funds were simply written off for this,” Budanov emphasized.

According to him, based on absolutely false information, Russian analysts made “abnormal conclusions” that led to the fact that a full-scale war has been going on for three years now, when the Russians thought they could seize Ukraine in 3-10 days.

“This is perhaps the most interesting thing I wanted to tell you today. In general, regarding the situation, first of all, the Russian Federation does not refuse to achieve its strategic goal. Unfortunately, we will have to live with this. The fact that they are not succeeding is obvious, since the war has been going on for almost 11 years. There is progress, but the pace is not at all what they set for themselves. They have problems, we have problems, but there is no need to despair,” the head of the GUR noted.
