The Commander-in-Chief added that the enemy is not going to stop, despite diplomatic efforts to resolve the war.
Russia’s offensive on the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, which President Volodymyr Zelensky previously spoke about, has already begun. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated this in an interview with LB.ua.
According to the commander-in-chief, Russia continues its strategic offensive operation to seize Ukrainian territory, defeat our troops, advance deep into the country, and seeks to completely seize Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as parts of Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. The enemy’s goal is to create a buffer zone in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.

“And they are not going to stop, judging by everything… You see, despite all the negotiations that are taking place, we are only observing an increase in the intensity of offensive actions. I can say that the president is absolutely right, and this offensive has actually already begun,” Syrsky said.
The general added that over the past few days, Ukraine has recorded an almost doubling of the number of enemy offensive actions in all main directions.
In addition, in the fall, Belarus will hold joint exercises with the Russians called “West-2025”. Syrsky explained that all exercises have a purpose. And one of these purposes is the covert creation of offensive groupings of troops. The visibility of the exercises is the most acceptable way to redeploy, transfer troops, concentrate in a certain direction and create a grouping of troops.
This happened in 2022 before the invasion. Ukraine will also take into account the factor of conducting these exercises.
Syrsky also reported that Ukraine is not only improving its own UAV industry, but also monitors the actions of the enemy. Intelligence provides information on what is emerging in the field of unmanned systems: what are the latest types of UAVs, the latest means of electronic warfare and means of combating them.
“This process is so fast that something changes practically every month: more powerful systems appear, the range of applications, for example, of electronic warfare means, increases, their order of operation increases. This is such a technological industry, and we need to maintain our advantage here,” said Syrsky.
