Moscow says the decryption of the drones carried out by specialists confirms that the target of the attack was the Russian presidency buildings.
A senior Russian military chief handed to a US military attache in Moscow a part of a Ukrainian drone containing data he said proved that the Ukrainian military this week had targeted a Russian presidential residence.
Moscow accused Kiev on Monday of trying to strike a residence of President Vladimir Putin in Russia’s northern Novgorod region with 91 long-range attack drones.
It said Russia would review its negotiating position in ongoing talks with the US on ending the Ukraine war.
Ukraine and Western countries have disputed Russia’s account of the strike.
A video posted on the Russian Defence Ministry’s Telegram channel showed Admiral Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces, handing to the US attache the controlling mechanism of a drone found among downed fragments.
“The decryption of the content of the memory of the navigation controller of the drones carried out by specialists of Russia’s special services confirms without question that the target of the attack was the complex of buildings of the Russian president’s residence in Novgorod region,” Kostyukov said.
“We presume that this measure will do away with any questions and allow for the truth to be established.”
He showed the US military representative a device, adding that several drones shot down during the attack had their navigation systems well preserved.
“In several of these drones, the navigation systems are well-preserved and technically functional,” he said.
Kostykov then handed the device to the US representative, saying, “We want to hand over this controller and the description of this controller made by our specialists to you. We believe that this step will help to remove all questions and contribute to the establishment of the truth.”
The ministry had earlier posted a statement on Telegram saying its findings would be turned over to the United States.
US President Donald Trump expressed sympathy for the Russian charge, telling reporters on Monday that Putin had informed him of the alleged incident and that he was “very angry” about it.

“In several of these drones, the navigation systems are well-preserved and technically functional,” he said.
Does that mean the data in them could be altered? I think mafia land would need to produce better evidence than this. Seeing the CIA have said no evidence whatsoever that any attack took place, mafia land are once again fabricating evidence.
This is just another pile of steaming stinking brown stuff, excreted by the russians for the American gangster in our White House to swallow.
The image of the Ukrainian drone they shown the world, was actually a russian gerbera drone. Nothing ever changes with mafia land.
I immediately recognized it as a Gerbera. I’ve seen a real one a couple of days ago. It’s on display in the square in front of St. Michael’s Cathedral.
Yeah! No doubt sent to destroy some poor civilians. What I find sickening is the Western media will amplify anything russia says, yet bombing a school or a hospital gets no attention at all.
And those numerous attempts of Zelenskyy’s life were also hardly worth mentioning.
