According to him, Russia hopes that the United States will take into account its demands for settling the war in Ukraine.

Russia does not want a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine, said Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. According to him, Moscow is “interested in a long-term settlement” and he outlined this position to Donald Trump’s national security adviser Michael Waltz.

He also said that “steps that imitate peaceful actions in Ukraine are not needed by anyone” and claimed that the proposed temporary ceasefire “is nothing more than a temporary respite for the Ukrainian military.”

At the same time, according to him, there is a “normal exchange of opinions, in a calm manner” between Russia and the United States, and the Russian Federation hopes that the United States will take into account its demands for settling the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, according to Putin’s aide, “the Americans understand that Ukraine’s membership in NATO cannot be discussed in the context of a peaceful settlement.”

He also said that the US has identified a mediator in negotiations with Russia and it is not Steve Witkoff.

Ceasefire in Ukraine

CNN wrote that  Putin would either agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine or incur Trump’s wrath. The publication emphasized that a ceasefire could require Russia to make uncomfortable compromises if it is serious about peace.

At the same time, The Telegraph wrote that Donald Trump has “several strings” he can pull if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire .

Today, US representatives arrived in Russia to meet with Russian diplomats. Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov also said that Putin could hold an “international telephone conversation” today, March 13.
