Russia’s aggression against Ukraine – briefly about what you should know today

The Russian Federation went on aggression against the Ukrainian state in 2014 – it seized Crimea and invaded part of the Donbass. Western countries punished Russia for aggression – they imposed sanctions.

Last autumn, the Russian side aggravated the situation on the border of Ukraine, and in our state, as well as in the West, they started talking about a possible invasion.

At the beginning of 2022, on February 10,  the active phase of Russian-Belarusian military exercises began in Belarus . The exercises of the Russian Federation and Belarus should end on the 20th of this month.

Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov said that 140,000 servicemen are stationed along the border of the Ukrainian state, both from the Russian Federation and Belarus, and from the occupied territories.

Earlier, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine claimed that  there would not be enough Russian troops near our border to carry out a full-scale invasion .

The European Union and the United States promised that in the event of a new invasion of Ukraine, serious sanctions would be imposed against Russia.
