The Ukrainian Air Force reported on the Russian intercontinental missile attack on the Dnieper on the morning of November 21.

By launching an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine, Russia demonstrated the possibility of a nuclear strike, Defence Express concluded .

It is emphasized that Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles RS-26 Rubezh, Topol or Yars are designed to deliver weapons of mass destruction. And, given that the ICBM with which the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine did not cause “significant consequences”, this strike was just a demonstration, the publication says.

At the same time, Defence Express added that, against this background, questions remain, in particular about where exactly Russia was aiming and what equipment was in the missile:

“In deep theory, it is possible to install a conventional high-explosive warhead on a Rubezh, Topol or Yars missile, but it does not make practical sense due to the enormous cost of such missiles. Especially in conditions where most of the targets in Ukraine are within the range of the Russian Iskander OTRK and other means of destruction… There is a question about the point of using a medium-range or even intercontinental-range missile against Ukraine, even for a nuclear strike.”

The publication suggested that the launched Russian ballistic missile was equipped with dummy warheads.

“It is also questionable whether there were any warnings about the launch and its direction to the United States, since the announcement of such launches is a mandatory condition for preventing the triggering of the missile attack warning system and the launch of missiles in response to a counter nuclear strike scenario,” the publication notes.

Let us recall that, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Force, on the morning of November 21, Russian troops attacked the city of Dnepr with missiles of various types , including an intercontinental ballistic missile.

It was noted that as a result of the anti-aircraft battle, only six Kh-101 cruise missiles were destroyed: “As for the other missiles – without significant consequences. Information about victims and injured people has not been received at this time.”
