Ukraine is counting on effective decisions from the international community and increased pressure from its partners, the president stated.

In one day—Sunday, September 27—in Kyiv alone, Russian jet drones struck two kindergartens, two schools, a residential building, a service station, as well as several warehouses and communications facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this.

“Absolutely anywhere in the world, such a choice of targets would be described by one word – terrorism. Russia has no military objective whatsoever. This is purely an attempt to break people and hurt our society as deeply as possible,” he stated.

According to the president, there are casualties and dozens of injuries. Overall, Zelenskyy noted, since Saturday, the Russians have used 277 attack drones of various types, 155 of which were jet-powered.

“Among the damaged buildings was a house used as the residence of the Saudi Arabian ambassador. In the Dnipro region, a sports school was damaged. In the Sumy region, the building of the regional orphanage was damaged,” the head of state said.Read also:

In his opinion, if Russia truly wanted de-escalation, as it says, in particular, to American negotiators, then “this wave of ‘shahid’ terror would not have happened.”

“And we need to take a sober view of the situation. Russia knows how to send encouraging diplomatic signals that the world simply wants to hear. It knows how to send signals that delay harsh retaliatory measures from the international community in response to war,” the president believes.

Zelenskyy says Lindsey Graham’s sanctions and tariff law “could make a big difference if fully implemented.”

“This law must be implemented, and everyone in the world sees that there are grounds for its application and purposes. We are counting on effective decisions from the international community and increased pressure from our partners so that Russia sees that its manipulation of diplomatic signals will not allow it to repeatedly buy additional time for war and terror. It is important that our other partners from the G7 and G20 also demonstrate principled commitment,” the president emphasized.

He added that new sanctions packages are being prepared, in particular against financial chains, supply chains for components and equipment for the production of Russian weapons, and specific enterprises and individuals, primarily those involved in the production of Russian ballistics.

“New sanctions should come into force as early as October to provide a more solid foundation for changing the situation and pushing Russia toward real diplomacy,” Zelenskyy noted.
