Reacting to a US senator’s comments during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, Russia on Sunday claimed that US investments in Nazi Germany led to World War II and the Holocaust.
“Senator [Lindsey] Graham has something to compare with. One of their investments led to World War II and the Holocaust,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Telegram.
Zakharova listed various US-based people, companies and banks, namely Henry Ford, General Motors, Kodak, Coca-Cola, Standard Oil, IBM and JPMorgan Chase & Co, claiming that they sponsored or assisted Nazi Germany during World War II.
Zakharova further said billions of US dollars are now being transferred to Ukraine, adding: “In this regard, I would like to remind the senators and all American beneficiaries how the previous adventure ended.”
During a meeting with Zelenskyy in the capital Kyiv on Friday, US Senator Lindsey Graham was recorded as saying in a video shared by the Ukrainian president’s Telegram account: “The Russians are dying … Best money we’ve ever spent.”
In a separate statement on Telegram, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev also commented on the video, claiming: “In his beloved America, not only ordinary people are regularly killed, but dirty money is also spent on killing senators.”
“It’s hard to imagine a greater shame for the country (the US) than having such senators,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said during a press briefing.
Neither Graham nor Ukrainian authorities have yet commented on the issue.

“In this regard, I would like to remind the senators and all American beneficiaries how the previous adventure ended.”
If the US supply Ukraine with the same amount of equipment as they supplied the USSR, you will need to reword this stupid statement. Here is a list of goods supplied to the USSR. Ukraine would be happy with 10% of this amount.
400,000 jeeps & trucks
14,000 airplanes
8,000 tractors
13,000 tanks
1.5 million blankets
15 million pairs of army boots
107,000 tons of cotton
2.7 million tons of petrol products
4.5 million tons of food
I’m sure that plenty of people invested in hitler’s nazi ideology before the full extent of their insanity was revealed, but I would mention that the word “nazi” is short for “Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei,” which translates in the German to National Socialist German Workers’ Party. The nazis were a derivative of marxism that tolerated private property when it benefited the structure of their state. But left-wing policies were what was used to seize the property of Jews and everyone else the nazis deemed “sub-human.” Daily Wire’s historical documentary series, “What We Saw: The Cold War,” shows photographs of hitler and stalin sitting around with each other like old friends. They frequently visited each other, even shortly before hitler invaded stalin’s russia.
I have no doubt that if he won the war, hitler would have turned germany and the conquered territories into his own version of a german USSR. Just another face of evil, but like many other dictators who neighbor next to each other, eventually started attacking the other evil of stalin.
“National Socialist”
If you believe that, you probably believe that North Korea is democratic. (It’s in the name – “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” – so it must be true!)
The German Workers Party changed their name to the National Socialists party as a way to disguise themselves as something benign. Their use of the word socialist was a way to appeal to the masses, but they were far from socialists. They used some aspects of socialism from the left and combined that with totalitarianism of the right for their ideology.
Hitler and the Nazis outlawed socialism, and executed socialists and communists en masse, even before they started rounding up Jews. In 1933, the Dachau concentration camp held socialists and leftists exclusively. The Nazis arrested more than 11,000 Germans for “illegal socialist activity” in 1936.
I think that was because hitler didn’t want any alternatives to his ideas, to compete with in nazi Germany. Especially against communism since russia was right next door, the soviets were the ones behind the creation of a group in Germany called “antifa” which is short for anti-fascism, and borrowed a lot of their fighting tactics from the russian revolution. I agree with you that often, a dictator would use benevolent sounding terms to disguise his evil, but I don’t see socialism as benign either, it’s root came from marxism, which also inspired communism.
I’m not happy with unrestricted capitalism, but moral guidelines like the Bible’s Ten Commandments help us all, even atheists, to see an example of what good or bad is. Amoralism was ultimately the direction of stalin, made worse by his refusal to accept reality or responsibility. So morals as defined by religious beliefs, when they back liberty-driven capitalism, are the best I think, and an atheist doesn’t even have to attend church in such a society.
Main point is that Nazis are far right. Some on the right (but not *that* far right) like to claim that Nazis were leftists because of the term “National Socialism”. But nothing could be further from the truth.
And, Western investments in another Nazi state – what some call Russian Federation – let it grow beyond what it deserved and to wage a terrible war.
Yeah, Bike, and Molotov-Ribbentrop had nothing to do with it, right?
