In the seventh month of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Gazprom announced that it would increase gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine.

It is reported by  Reuters .

This information is also confirmed by Politico . According to the publication, the decision was made after Gazprom announced that it would not restart the Nord Stream gas pipeline to Germany after a three-day maintenance break.

Flows at the Sudzha inlet were slightly higher compared to Friday’s 41.3 million cubic meters, but this does not compensate for the shortage of gas that was expected to come from Nord Stream 1, the agency said.

Stop “Nord Stream”:

On August 31, 2022, Gazprom suspended gas supplies to Europe via Nord Stream.

Gazprom stated that oil leaks were found on parts of the pipeline compressor and that the equipment had to be shut down until the leak was repaired.

But Siemens Energy, which routinely maintains the Nord Stream 1 turbines, said such an oil leak should not shut down the pipeline.

“Such leaks usually do not affect the operation of the turbine and can be fixed on site. This is a common procedure as part of the repair work,” said Siemens Energy.

On the evening of September 2, the Russian gas company Gazprom announced a complete halt to gas transportation through the Nord Stream pipeline for an indefinite period.

On September 3, the White House reacted to the complete shutdown of Nord Stream .
