The Russian occupation army attacked Odessa with dozens of strike drones on the night of April 30 – fires broke out in the city, housing was significantly damaged, buses and cars were destroyed, and many civilians were injured.

As reported by the head of the Odessa MVA Serhiy Lysak, the enemy directed a strike at residential areas and civilian objects in different areas of the city. As of 7:00, it is known that the Primorsky district of the regional center was the most affected. In particular, a multi-storey building and a 5-storey residential building were damaged: large-scale fires broke out on the upper floors and roof, which rescuers managed to localize. Private houses and residential buildings in the central part of the city were also damaged.

“Social and commercial facilities were hit: the kindergarten building was significantly damaged, a shopping center, hotel, and administrative buildings were damaged. Dozens of buses and cars were destroyed or damaged in several parking lots,” the official emphasized.

In the Khadzhibey district, hits were recorded on infrastructure facilities, warehouse buildings, and a garage cooperative.

Among the injured is a 17-year-old boy, two people are currently in intensive care in serious condition, doctors are fighting for their lives, Lysak added. According to him, one person was taken to the trauma department. The other victims, Lysak claims, were provided with the necessary assistance on the spot or sent for outpatient treatment.

68 units of equipment and over 280 specialists from all emergency and municipal services of the city were involved in the elimination of the consequences. Operational headquarters have been deployed on the ground, where residents of damaged buildings can receive assistance and consultations.

Spokeswoman for the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office Inna Verba told UNIAN that according to preliminary data, among the victims are 11 men aged 18-72 and 6 women aged 21-70.

“According to our data, 7 people are still in the hospital. The number of injured is being clarified. Proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – war crimes,” Verba said.

According to the regional department of the National Police, multi-story and private buildings, a kindergarten, a hotel, a parking lot and other infrastructure facilities, as well as vehicles, were damaged.

“At least 18 citizens suffered various injuries,” police said.

Law enforcement officers are currently working on the ground – recording the consequences of the attack, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, providing psychological assistance, and ensuring law and order.

Updated at 8:28 a.m.  According to the head of the Odessa OVA, Oleg Kiper, out of 18 injured, 9 were hospitalized.

The press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region emphasized that there was extensive destruction and large-scale fires in various areas of the city. The residential sector suffered the greatest damage, as a result of the hits, apartments on the 4th and 5th floors of a 5-story building and on the 6th and 7th floors of a 17-story building caught fire.

“In addition to housing, the city’s civil infrastructure suffered significant damage, fires broke out in warehouses, administrative and educational buildings, and dozens of buses and cars were destroyed and damaged by fire in parking lots and yards, garages and outbuildings burned,” the rescuers said.

Psychologists from the State Emergency Service worked at the scene of the attack, providing necessary psychological support to 36 people, including 5 children.

More than 200 rescuers and 48 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire and conducting search and rescue operations in order to quickly localize all sources of ignition.
