Russia attacked Ukraine with “shahedeen”: explosions were heard in Kyiv and the region, there is a victim

Russian drone debris fell in at least two areas of the capital. Emergency services are working.

On the night of Friday, January 3, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with ” shahed ” type attack drones. The drones flew in waves.

According to the Air Force, at midnight a group of drones flew from Sumy Oblast towards Poltava Oblast and to the west. Subsequently, several groups of drones were recorded in Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Poltava and Donetsk Oblasts.

Within a few minutes, “shahids” were recorded in the Kyiv, Zhitomir and Cherkasy regions.

At around 5 a.m., the drones were still in Ukrainian airspace, in particular in the skies over Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions.

Some of the “shahids” attacked the capital. The air defense system was activated in Kiev. The drone fragments fell in the Holosiivskyi and Darnitskyi districts of Kiev. According to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, there is no fire in the Holosiivskyi district where the UAV fragments fell. Services are examining the site.

At the same time, the head of the Kiev city military administration, Timur Tkachenko, reported that a fire broke out in a private house in the Darnitsky district as a result of falling debris. Rescuers extinguished the fire, information about the victims is being established.

Updated at 6:31. Klitschko clarified that there were no casualties in the Darnitsky and Goloseevsky districts where the UAV debris fell.

Updated at 7:03. Acting head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Mykola Kalashnik reported that as a result of an enemy air attack on the Kyiv region, one person was killed and four were wounded.

In one of the districts of the region, a truck driver died from injuries from debris from a downed target. The man died at the scene of the incident.

In another area, debris from a downed UAV fell on a private home, setting the roof on fire. Three people were injured. A woman born in 1957 suffered from an acute stress reaction. A 16-year-old boy suffered from a cut. He will be hospitalized in a children’s hospital. His father suffered cut wounds to his legs.

In another populated area, a woman was injured by debris on the street. She was hospitalized at a local hospital. All necessary medical care is being provided.

Updated at 8:21. According to the State Emergency Service, in Belotserkovsk region, as a result of the Russian attack, 4 private residential buildings and one utility building were damaged. A fire broke out in one of the buildings – it was extinguished by rescuers at 05:02.

Three people were injured.

In Brovary region, a truck was damaged, resulting in the death of the driver, born in 1999, and in Fastiv region, a young woman, born in 2002, was injured due to falling debris. She is currently receiving medical care at the district hospital.

Updated at 9:02. The KMVA noted that a fire broke out in a private house in the Darnitsky district as a result of an attack by Russian drones. Windows were damaged, walls and part of the ceiling paneling were destroyed. One woman was injured, she received burns to her hand, and refused hospitalization.

In the Goloseevsky district, falling debris was recorded near a private house.

Updated at 9:16. The Air Force stated that on January 3, 2025, the enemy attacked with 93 Shahed-type attack UAVs and drone simulators of various types in the areas of Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel.

As of 09:00, the destruction of 60 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other types of drones has been confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Due to active counteraction by the Defense Forces, 26 enemy drone imitators were lost in location (without negative consequences), one in the air.

As a result of the Russian drone attack, several strike UAVs hit private businesses and apartment buildings in the Donetsk and Chernihiv regions. The downed “shahids” also caused damage in the Kyiv region: private homes and cars were damaged in several areas. Unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries.
