Shelling of Odessa – latest news

As a reminder, on the night of December 2, the Russian army attacked civilian and energy infrastructure in the southern Odesa region. The attack damaged a power facility, an administrative building, and individual private households. Fires were reported as a result of the strikes, and the attack led to power outages. Critical infrastructure relied on generators. The strike left thousands of Ukrainians without power .

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk explained why it’s difficult to shoot down the drones Russia uses to attack Odesa around the clock . He explained that the large city’s location on the Black Sea coast means naval forces have to fight back directly from the water.

“Considering that the Odesa region is directly adjacent to the sea, meaning there’s no gap, we must repel such attacks from the water, specifically. Of course, when repelling such attacks, when you’re on a vessel or ship, there are nuances. This includes pitching and rolling, weather conditions… The rest is handled by our units on shore. And, of course, it’s not just us—we’re part of the overall air defense system,” Pletenchuk added.

    • Because that is exactly what Putin and some in the EU want, portray us as evil nazi aggressor. But i fully understand your frustration bro.

    • My thoughts too, Cap. Maybe Ukraine’s friends could hand over enough weapons and ammo, and the military aged males that are hiding in their countries. This would help a lot to defend those facilities.
