As a reminder, temperatures in Ukraine will drop to -30 degrees Celsius starting February 1st.
Russia has agreed to refrain from striking Ukraine until February 1 in response to a request from US President Donald Trump , Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced .
According to him, Russia agreed to this step allegedly “to create favorable conditions for negotiations.”
“President Trump has made a personal request to Putin to refrain from striking Kyiv for a week, until February 1, in order to create favorable conditions for negotiations,” he said.
Peskov also responded to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to visit Putin in Kyiv by saying that it was Zelensky who requested the meeting with Putin, and not the other way around.
“Putin didn’t proactively invite Zelensky anywhere and didn’t offer any meetings to Zelensky… Zelensky, in fact, initiated the meeting. And in response, President Putin told him that yes, we are ready, but only in Moscow,” he said.
He also stated that Moscow considers the conclusions of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who declared the inapplicability of the right to self-determination of peoples in the situation with Crimea and Donbas, to be “deeply erroneous.”
