The aggressor country Russia is once again using the territory of Belarus to expand the capabilities of strike drones during air attacks on Ukraine. In particular, Ukrainian intelligence has once again recorded the activity of active satellite signal repeaters along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
This was stated by the new head of the Military Intelligence Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleg Ivashchenko, in an interview with The Times. According to him, the operation of six repeater towers was recorded.
New repeaters
Recent intelligence data indicates that Belarus may once again be used by Russia not only as a rear area, but also as an element of infrastructure for air attacks on Ukraine.
“They can use a mesh network with a large number of towers and repeaters. These repeaters are located along the border, and we detected the activity of six of them on the territory of Belarus,” Oleg Ivashchenko said in particular.
According to the head of the GUR, Ukraine has sufficient capabilities to counteract this infrastructure.
“They stopped deploying them for a period of time, but now we see that some of the repeaters are working again. We have enough capacity to hit with this,” he assured.
Oleg Ivashchenko did not reveal specific ways to neutralize the enemy network, but said that there is a whole range of possibilities. He also recalled how the Ukrainian authorities had already warned Minsk that the equipment that Russia uses to attack Ukraine should be removed. After these signals, the activity of the repeaters stopped for a while. However, according to the head of military intelligence, now some of the equipment has been put back into operation.
Potential invaders
Russia may lose the potential to wage war against Ukraine by 2028 if its military and economic losses remain at the current level, the head of the GUR separately noted. The Russian army suffers significant losses every day, which already exceed the rate of recruitment of new servicemen, he explained.
According to intelligence, the aggressors mobilize about a thousand people per day, “and sometimes 1,200.” It seems like a lot. But we must take into account that the occupiers lose more every day – “yesterday – 1,410, the day before yesterday – 1,551,” etc. Moreover, such a high ratio of killed to wounded among the invaders has never been recorded before – “in the history” of armed conflicts.
What preceded
In February of this year, the Russian occupation army deployed a system of relays for controlling strike drones in Belarus. This led to an increase in the ability of Putin’s army to strike at the northern regions of Ukraine – from Kyiv region to Volyn.
However, at the end of June, these repeaters were turned off after the Ukrainian leader openly threatened Minsk.
Ukraine has several options for neutralizing Russian repeaters that can be used to guide drones from the territory of Belarus. Experts emphasize that similar objects have been disabled before. This was stated by the representative of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Stupak in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA.
Zelensky issued a warning not so long ago about those repeaters. I hope he follows through now with his threats and destroys them.
