Rubio said that the United States has many other important things to do.

The United States recognizes the ceasefire talks in Ukraine as unviable if they fail to achieve success within a few days. This statement was made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a press briefing, answering questions from journalists .

He noted that the American side will assess whether both sides are committed to peace.

“Now we need to determine very quickly, and I’m talking about a few days, whether it’s possible to do this in the next few weeks. If so, then we’re in business. If not, then we have other priorities to focus on,” he said.

Rubio stressed that US President Donald Trump is “dedicating a lot of time and energy” to the issue of achieving peace in Ukraine, but there are also many other important things happening in the world.

“We want to do everything we can to be helpful. We had a good meeting yesterday. I think the French, the British, the Germans were very constructive, very helpful… And hopefully we will have another meeting early next week. Then we will have more concrete answers on how close we are to making progress. But it will not last forever,” he added.

Commenting on the possibility of providing security guarantees to Ukraine, Rubio said that this issue, of course, is raised during every meeting on Ukraine, but he cannot talk about any specifics at this time.

“Every independent country has the right to defend itself. Ukraine will have the right to defend itself… These could be bilateral agreements with different countries,” he added.

Peace talks in Ukraine

As UNIAN reported, meetings of the US and Ukrainian delegations were held in Paris, during which they discussed the issue of a ceasefire. Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak said that a complete and unconditional ceasefire should be the first stage on the path to peace.

According to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, the next round of talks will take place in London next week.

At the same time, Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi announced that Ukraine will hold new rounds of negotiations with the US to find ways to stop Russian aggression.

  1. Even if Russia was serious about a peace deal, the negotiations would take a year or may be two.
Rubio wants to finish it in a week…………………

Invading Greenland and Canada must be done………too…………

  2. This putrid turncoat is revealing that Krasnov is teeing himself up for a Ukrainexit, with all the horrors that entails : complete end to all assistance from the US and a new US/putlerstan union.
