RosZMI leaked evidence of the use of chemical weapons by Russian troops against the Armed Forces at the front. As the tg-channel Astra drew attention , the journalist of the Russian news agency RT Andriy Filatov showed how Russian troops “smoked out” a Ukrainian machine gunner from a position in the Avdiyivka area.

The video, in which Filatov admitted to the use of chemical weapons – gas grenades by the Russian Armed Forces, was published by the official Telegram channel RT .

“Here you can see the gas mask that was hanging from the machine gunner. The zincs are from the cartridges. Here is the gas grenade that we dropped,” Filatov says in his report.

As Astra notes, Filatov showed, presumably, a Russian RG-VO gas grenade (a hand grenade is a poisonous substance).

As noted in the Armed Forces, the RG-VO contains the poisonous gas chloroacetophenone . This gas is on list 1 of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Symptoms of chloracetophenone poisoning are profuse vomiting and lacrimation, as well as skin irritation.

According to Filatov, the Ukrainian position was taken by Russian troops on December 1, 2023. RT’s post notes that “previously, it was not possible to publish this footage due to security reasons.” At the same time, Ukraine reported for the first time about the use of RG-VO grenades by the Russian army in the same month.

Recently, the United States announced the introduction of sanctions against Russian organizations associated with programs for the creation of chemical weapons. The statement says that the Russian army is using the suffocating agent chlorpicrin against Ukrainian soldiers .

In response to this accusation, Putin’s press secretary Dmytro Peskov said that “as always, such accusations sound completely empty and are not supported by anything.”

As Emma Nix, assistant director of the “European Center” at the American think tank Atlantic Council, said, if the world does not give a decisive and tough answer to this, Russia will move to a larger and more deadly use of chemical weapons.
