Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of the Russian space agency Roscosmos , has arrived in the United States, where he will meet with the leadership of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for the first time in eight years.

Bakanov’s talks with US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, who also temporarily heads NASA , will take place in Houston, where NASA headquarters – the Lyndon Johnson Space Center and the Mission Control Center – are located.

Among the topics of the meeting of officials were the continuation of the cross-space flight program and the further operation of the International Space Station (ISS).

Bakanov is also scheduled to meet with the NASA Crew-11 mission team, which includes Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov.

The mission is scheduled to depart for the ISS on Elon Musk’s SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on July 31.

He will also visit the Lyndon Johnson Space Center and the facilities of Boeing and SpaceX, which manufacture spacecraft.

The space industry remains one of the few areas where cooperation between the United States and Russia continues after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
