In Europe, the right and the left have finally agreed that Trump is betraying Ukraine and the entire European continent.
The European Parliament has criticized US President Donald Trump’s “peacekeeping” policy for rewarding the Russian aggressor and effectively forcing Ukraine into some form of capitulation, Politico reports .
The European Parliament declaration, supported by more than 440 votes out of 720, “strongly condemns any attempt to blackmail the Ukrainian leadership into surrendering to the Russian aggressor for the sole purpose of announcing a so-called ‘peace agreement’.” The statement also condemned as “counterproductive and dangerous” the Trump administration’s current attempts “to negotiate a ceasefire and a peace agreement with Russia through the head of state of Ukraine and other European states.”
MEPs believe that current US peacekeeping efforts are simply “rewarding” Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for three years of full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
The statement was signed by representatives of the entire political spectrum represented in the European Parliament – the Greens, the Socialists, the Democrats, the Liberals, the Christian Democrats and even the hard right.
