Asking a rape victim to apologise

Resist it, block it, reject it!
As predicted, after the shameful actions of the Trump, Vance leadership, social media and corporate press outlets have flooded the market with anti-Zelensky propaganda. Their aim is to discredit him, to spread rumours and outright lies to justify in some appalling manner, his treatment, and to apply pressure on him to ‘apologise.’ This is akin to asking a rape victim to apologise to her attacker for wearing the wrong clothes.
Meanwhile for Ukraine, the war has progressed in a positive manner. Ukraine continues to deplete Russian air defences. Air defence numbers in Donbas were so low that missiles were moved from Crimea to fill gaps. This left gaps in Crimean air defences that Ukrainian drones penetrated and struck eleven fuel storage centres and oil refineries. Russia’s response was to attack Ukrainian civilian centres and the national grid. Some have questioned why Kerch Bridge is still standing. This might be because it concentrates air defences that cannot be used elsewhere – for the time being.
Putin made a decree that there could be no more international sales of gasoline proving Ukraine’s attacks have depleted fuel supplies to the war front and the nation. It is estimated Russia’s fuel production is down 10% which doesn’t sound a lot, but Russia needs fuel for more than the war. The whole country relies on fuel.
On the war front Russia still attempts to use numbers to overwhelm Ukrainian defences. In the past year, these tactics have made small incremental gains at enormous cost in men and materiel. Now, the cracks are appearing in Russian forces. Small tactical counter attacks are proving successful, and some ground is being recovered. Russian forces are short of everything. Reports and films of donkeys being used to transport ammunition, private cars stripped down to carry supplies, shortages of food and medicine and most strikingly seriously wounded men being rounded up in hospitals and returned to the battlefields.
Russia is on the edge of defeat, but we would never know it to hear their representatives. Their economy is failing, inflation is climbing fast, the rouble is worthless on the international markets. The only hope for Putin is Trump. Trump wants to save Putin from defeat and his recent actions show this very clearly. Without Trump, Putin would be looking for a peace settlement and negotiate some form of withdrawal. Trump gives Putin hope even in the face of defeat.
The Putin/Trump plan is to discredit Zelensky in the American public eye, undermine European unity by using Victor Orban as an irritant and hope Russia can still win the politics even when the war is lost.
The rest of us must be aware what we see and read about Zelensky is designed to undermine Ukraine on Putin’s behalf. Resist it, block it, and reject it!
