After the successful offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region , the Russian authorities “postponed” the holding of referendums on “joining Russia” of the occupied Ukrainian territories.

This is reported by the Russian edition of Meduza .

According to the publication, the only reason for this decision is the successful counter-offensive of the Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv direction.

Kremlin-linked political technologists who worked in Kharkiv and Zaporozhye regions have already been recalled to Russia. “An order has been received to go home,” the newspaper writes.

As of September 11, the Ukrainian Armed Forces still had 50 kilometers to go before reaching the state border in the Kharkiv region .

The Ukrainian Armed Forces officially launched a counteroffensive in the south at the end of August. As of September 9,  according to the calculations of the Institute for the Study of War, the  defenders recaptured 2.5 thousand square kilometers from the enemy.

According to the representative of OK “Pivden” Natalia Gumenyuk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine in different directions in the south  advanced to a distance of two to several tens of kilometers .

The counter-offensive in the south continues simultaneously with the operations of Ukrainian forces on the Kharkiv-Izyum line. Ukrainian forces continue to attack Russian pontoon and ferry crossings in the south on a daily basis, but maintain a severe operational silence.

On September 11, 2022, the head of the Lugansk regional military administration, Sergei Gaidai, reported that the Russians were packing the loot and fleeing . The Russian military is even leaving cities that were occupied back in 2014.
