“Red Square is less important to us than the lives of Ukrainian prisoners”: Zelensky announced a 1,000-for-1,000 exchange

The aggressor state of the Russian Federation agreed to an exchange of prisoners of war in the format of 1000 for 1000. This agreement, apparently, provides for the establishment of a so-called truce for three days: May 9, 10, and 11.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday evening, the 8th. “Red Square is less important to us than the lives of Ukrainian prisoners who can be returned home,” he stressed, making it clear that Kyiv accepts these conditions.

What is known about the agreements?

The head of state said that negotiations on the exchange and ceasefire took place under the mediation of the United States.

Ukraine received “many appeals and signals” regarding potential attacks on Moscow on May 9. Zelensky recalled that our Defense Forces adhere to the principle of mirroring, and the Russian side was aware of this.

“An additional argument for Ukraine in determining our position is always the resolution of one of the key humanitarian issues of this war, namely the release of prisoners of war. Red Square is less important to us than the lives of Ukrainian prisoners who can be returned home,” the president said.

On May 8, as part of the negotiation process mediated by the American side, Kyiv received Moscow’s consent to conduct a large 1,000-for-1,000 exchange.

“A regime of silence should also be established on May 9, 10, and 11,” Zelenskyy said.

Our country continues to work on the release of Ukrainians from enemy captivity. The Head of State instructed the team to “promptly prepare everything necessary for the exchange.”

Zelensky also thanked his American counterpart Donald Trump and his representatives “for their effective diplomatic participation.” “We expect that the United States will ensure the implementation of the agreements by the Russian side,” the president added.

  1. The gutter rat knew exactly how he will get his ceasefire for his stupid parade; Ukrainian POWs.
Expect MASSIVE attacks by the filthy cockroaches on the 12th. Maybe even sooner, as soon as the stupid parade is over. I hope Ukraine is prepared.
