This really pisses me off that Zelenskyy is being forced into this position given the level of Russian occupation and bombardment makes it impossible to hold free, fair and secure elections in Ukraine.
On top of that, Russia is a totalitarian state where elections are rigged, opponents of Puti murdered, tortured and forced into exile, a Parliament that is a rubber stamping body, media that is little more than a propaganda outlet spreading disinformation on behalf of the Kremlin and a judiciary that dispenses justice on the order of the Kremlin. Yet Trump says nothing about this and never has as he’s a useful idiot for Putin, who is happy to be used as an attack dog against Zelenskyy, making unfounded and baseless accusations on a regular basis.

▪️The points of the peace plan that concern Europe must be coordinated with the EU — including the issue of frozen Russian assets and Ukraine’s EU membership.
▪️Zelensky acknowledged that, as of today, Ukraine does not have enough strength or sufficient support from allies to retake Crimea and other occupied territories.
▪️Ukraine is already using new long-range systems: the Neptune, Palyanytsia, Flamingo, and Sapsan.
▪️Ukraine is ready for an energy truce if Russia is also prepared to agree to it.
▪️Zelensky reaffirmed his readiness for elections. He is awaiting proposals from partners and lawmakers on legal changes needed to hold elections during martial law.
▪️Zelensky called on the US and European partners to ensure security for the vote. If such security is guaranteed, Ukraine can hold elections within 60–90 days.
▪️Bilateral security guarantees with the United States are critically important for Ukraine. They are outlined in a 20-point plan and follow a principle similar to NATO’s Article 5 — mutual assistance in case of attack.
▪️The United States is currently NOT ready to accept Ukraine into NATO. “This is not some kind of game but completely open information. But this is certainly a question for the future,” Zelensky said.
▪️Ukraine needs an additional €800 million for the PURL program by the end of the year.

He made the remark while discussing Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and arguing that President Obama failed to stop it.
“In the warmest part [of Crimea] they have the best weather, the best everything. And Obama made them give up Crimea. I remember when it happened, but I wasn’t as involved as I am now. You know, now I know Ukraine very well,” Trump said.
