Russia just canceled its most important military parade – Navy Day in St. Petersburg. No warships. No flyovers. And critically – no Putin. Officially, the Kremlin blamed “drone threats.” But history makes clear: Navy Day has previously been marked by Ukrainian drones reaching far beyond military targets – including high-profile locations in and around the city.

Ukraine’s drone strategy has evolved. It’s no longer just disrupting frontline logistics. It is now exposing the vulnerabilities of Russia’s power centers. The July 27 wave of strikes revealed catastrophic failures in Russian air defenses, triggered emergency shutdowns of major airports, and forced senior military officials to withdraw from public visibility. Putin’s navy now shelters in fear – instead of sailing in strength.

Ukraine doesn’t need to dismantle the regime to win. It only needs to prove the regime can’t shield itself. What were once military “celebrations” are now potent reminders of regime fragility. The front lines have expanded. For Putin – there is no longer a safe rear.
