According to Russian diplomats and a source close to the Kremlin, Putin has a personal dislike for Zelensky.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to force the resignation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in order to subjugate all of Ukraine, The Moscow Times reports, citing two current diplomats and a source close to the Kremlin.
Putin has minimum and maximum goals for Ukraine
According to sources, despite the start of negotiations with the United States, Russia is still pursuing maximalist goals in the war against Ukraine. Putin intends to achieve Ukraine’s surrender and regime change in the country in order to “restart Ukrainian statehood on Russian terms.” Sources told reporters that the Kremlin wants Ukraine to become an analogue of Belarus, with a government that is completely dependent on Moscow.
Putin’s minimum goal of the war is to establish control over the four occupied regions of Ukraine. At the same time, he wants to limit Kyiv’s political and military independence, the sources said.
The publication emphasized that the Russian dictator is currently betting on discrediting Zelensky in Trump’s eyes. He is doing everything possible to ensure that the American leader does not trust the Ukrainian president.
The official close to the Kremlin added that Moscow is now focused on achieving “unbearable pressure from Washington” on Zelensky. That is why American politicians have repeatedly insisted on holding elections in Ukraine.
Putin has a personal animosity towards Zelensky
“He challenged Putin. One of our tasks is to ensure that he no longer leads Ukraine. Therefore, we are methodically promoting the thesis of his illegitimacy and the need for elections,” the Russian diplomat told reporters.
In addition, the Kremlin is confident that Zelensky will not be able to be re-elected for a new presidential term. According to the publication’s sources, Moscow is looking for arguments to convince the US that the government in Ukraine needs to be changed.
The Russian diplomat assured that Putin is not going to make concessions in peace talks as long as Zelensky remains in power.
“Any concession now will look like a gift to Zelensky, not to Trump. This is unacceptable,” he emphasized.

This guy needs to be killed! Plain and simple
HA! Interesting. Seems its now personal with Putler. Keeps him up at night I hope. It just eats him up that someone his own height stands up to him and sees through his BS. Z seems to be pretty whitty – a quick thinking comedy mind, sharp, pointed, and some of his recent statements on orcland, and specifically Putler must have been right on target.
