The Kremlin is openly demanding capitulation as a precondition for a meeting between the leaders
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is ready for a personal meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy only if Kyiv first surrenders.
This was stated in an interview with The Kyiv Independent by Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serhiy Kyslytsia.
According to him, the format of negotiations at the delegation level has essentially run its course, as the Russian side has no mandate for any compromises.
Kyslytsia noted that there were no internal discussions or search for solutions within the Russian delegation — they simply followed Putin’s orders. And his only mandate is to force Ukraine to capitulate.
The diplomat explained that the Ukrainian side had proposed a ceasefire as the first step toward dialogue, but the Kremlin rejected this proposal.
«The Russians are stating outright: first — capitulation, then — a meeting of the leaders, and then — fulfillment of our demands, ” the deputy minister added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Ukraine will not accept any form of capitulation and will continue to fight both on the battlefield and on the diplomatic front.
