Russian army chief Valery Gerasimov is facing mounting criticism after Ukrainian troops launched their biggest incursion into Russian territory .
Gerasimov and top officials ignored intelligence warnings that Ukrainian soldiers were massing near the border with Russia’s western Kursk region two weeks before the offensive began, according to a person close to the Kremlin, Bloomberg reports .
No one informed President Vladimir Putin of this. The Russian defense forces inside Russia were caught off guard and offered virtually no resistance to the Ukrainian offensive.
While Gerasimov is unlikely to be removed from his post in the short term, patience in the Kremlin with his leadership of the war effort is running out, a Bloomberg source said.

The Ukrainian breakthrough into Kursk comes as fighting along the front lines in eastern and southern Ukraine has reached a stalemate, despite Russian forces making some recent gains.
Ukrainian troops advanced 10 kilometers into Kursk on Wednesday amid ongoing mechanized offensive operations, according to the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War.
The day before, Putin summoned Gerasimov and other high-ranking defense and security officials to a meeting.

I think the panic bug has reached them already. Many people from the border regions are already in the city, and so many scared refugees should be obvious to everyone and their dogs.

I guess we will see. No doubt the military stooges will be taken into Ukraine. There will be some forcibly relocated like putler was doing in Belgorod to try to get people to replace the killed and kidnapped in Kharkiv. Then I expect there will be a chunk that welcome the “historical reunification” with Ukraine.
