The Russian leader noted that “I am not familiar with his possible proposals on how he is going to do it.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he is serious about US presidential candidate Donald Trump’s intention to end the war in Ukraine, although the head of the Kremlin is not familiar with his specific proposals.

“The fact that Mr. Trump as a presidential candidate declares that he is ready and wants to stop the war in Ukraine, we take it very seriously,” Putin said during a press conference at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana.

The Russian leader noted that “I am not familiar with his possible proposals on how he is going to do it.”

“And this, of course, is a key issue. But I have no doubt that he is saying this sincerely. And we support it,” Putin added.

Trump’s “peace proposals” regarding Ukraine

During the campaign rallies, Trump promised that he would end the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours”, but did not say exactly how he was going to achieve this.

As part of Donald Trump’s plan for NATO, the Alliance undertakes to stop further expansion to the east – in particular, to Ukraine and Georgia, and is also negotiating with Putin about how much of Ukrainian territory Moscow can “keep” for itself. Politico writes about this with reference to experts on national security related to the ex-president of the USA.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Donald Trump should come up with his plan for a quick end to the war with Russia, warning that any proposal should not violate the country’s sovereignty.

  1. I prefer Reagan’s proposal to Gorbachev for ending the Cold War: “We win, you lose.”
