Criminal liability has been introduced for crimes against military service for volunteers, including desertion, resistance to superiors and destruction of military property.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has signed laws aimed at strengthening control within the country, the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) reported .
It is noted that the laws that propaganda calls measures to “protect sovereignty” are in fact an attempt to protect the regime from new threats such as “Prigozhin’s march” on Moscow.

So, now in the Russian Federation:
- participation in an armed uprising is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 15 to 20 years;
- Those convicted of terrorism or armed rebellion will no longer be eligible for parole;
- Foreign citizens who assist in attempts to undermine Russia’s security face up to 15 years in prison.
In addition, criminal liability has been introduced for crimes against military service for volunteers, including desertion, resistance to superiors and destruction of military property.
“The adoption and signing of these laws confirms that the Kremlin is increasingly afraid of internal threats and is trying to protect itself from them legislatively. However, this pressure will sooner or later lead to destabilization of the domestic political situation and, finally, the fall of the Putin regime,” the CPI notes.
