Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western pressure on Russia and Belarus is forcing countries to “accelerate unification processes.” He said this addressing the participants of the IX Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, according to the Kremlin website.
Unprecedented political and sanctions pressure from the so-called collective West is pushing us to speed up the unification processes. After all, together it is easier to minimize the damage from illegal sanctions, it is easier to master the production of products in demand, develop new competencies and expand cooperation with friendly countries.
Alexander Lukashenko, in turn, said in a video message to the forum participants that the countries of the former USSR “should be sincerely interested in rapprochement” with the Union State of Russia and Belarus, “if, of course, they want to preserve their sovereignty and independence.”
In September 2021, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko agreed on 28 union programs aimed at integrating Russia and Belarus. After the talks, Putin said that the programs dealt with, among other things, general macroeconomic policy, information security, customs and taxation, the integration of payment systems, and the harmonization of monetary policy.
Closer integration between Russia and Belarus has been discussed since the 1990s. Thus, the creation of a common parliament, a constitution, a single currency was discussed, but such an agreement was never adopted. In 2019, at the initiative of Russia, negotiations resumed.

Wonder if the Belarusian people will accept this?

Perhaps Luka might explain how Belarus being annexed by Russia preserves the independence and sovereignty of the country. No matter, Two shitholes joining together just makes an even bigger shithole.
Someone needs to remind Luka he is not the elected leader of Belarus which means Putin’s goons are in Belarus illegally. THAT is the main reason for putin’s attempted “unification.”
This dumbass statement just proves what a loony Luka really is. He’s clearly detached from reality.
