Putin is doing everything he can to sabotage diplomacy and drag everyone into endless discussions while his army kills at the same time.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not actually need any truce , but on the contrary, he seeks to continue the war. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram .
“Yesterday we heard Putin’s statements – he puts forward some conditions that clearly show: he does not want any ceasefire. He needs war – this has always been obvious, and it is obvious now,” Zelensky is convinced.
As the head of state emphasized, “Putin lies about the real situation on the battlefield, he lies about the losses, he lies about the real state of his economy, which has suffered from his ridiculous imperial ambitions, and he is doing everything possible to ensure that diplomacy fails.”
As Zelensky notes, “Putin cannot get out of this war, because then he will be left with nothing.”
In this regard, according to the Ukrainian president, this is precisely why the Russian dictator “is now doing everything possible to sabotage diplomacy, setting extremely difficult and unacceptable conditions from the very beginning, even before the ceasefire.”
“Putin will try to drag everyone into endless discussions just like he did with Minsk, wasting days, weeks and months on pointless negotiations while his weapons continue to kill people. Every condition that Putin puts forward is just an attempt to block any diplomacy. This is how Russia works. And we warned about this,” Zelensky states.
As the President of Ukraine noted, the American side proposed to begin the path to peace with an unconditional ceasefire.
“Then, during a period of silence, we could prepare a credible peace plan, put it on the table, discuss the details and implement it,” Zelensky assures.
He emphasizes that Ukraine is ready.
“We believe that it is the responsibility of our partners to ensure that Russia is ready to end the war – not to look for reasons for it to continue for weeks, months or years, but to put an end to it,” Zelensky added.
In his opinion, Putin himself will not end the war.
“But America’s power is enough to force him to do this. Strong steps are needed. Strong pressure is needed on the only one who wants to continue this war,” Zelensky said.
This is what “peace through strength” means, he said.
