Against the background of information about a possible Russian military invasion of Ukraine, MP Oleksiy Goncharenko said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the “Hitler of the 21st century”, but our country will be able to fight back.

Every Ukrainian city will turn into a fortress in the way of the Russian occupier, Goncharenko said in an interview with Dozhd .

The politician recalled that Russia attacked Ukraine not yesterday, but 8 years ago. And therefore, the arguments about the invasion of the aggressor country must come out of the “parallel reality”, because we are not talking about a hypothetical scenario, but about a war that has been going on for many years.

“Putin understands only strength. Putin is such a planetary-scale, gopnik… You walk down the street, and a gopnik comes to meet you. He goes and looks, are you ready for his attack or not. If you are ready, he is on you will not attack. If you are disheveled, lax, drunk, then he will attack you, ” 

It is precisely because Putin understands only force, Goncharenko pointed out, that the United States, Great Britain, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Canada are sending weapons to Ukraine.

“And when Putin realizes that his road through Ukrainian soil will be covered with the blood of Russian soldiers, this is the only thing that can stop him,” the deputy added.

He also spoke about international support for Ukraine. The politician rated it highly, but noted that Germany’s position now raises questions. 

“In general, I believe that everything we see now is blackmail by Putin … As for Germany, they have the trauma of the Second World War … A sense of guilt before Russia. Only for some reason Germany forgets that the Hitler regime inflicted the most severe wounds not only to the people of Russia, but to the people of Ukraine and Belarus even to a greater extent. And this passes by them … As for me, Putin is the Hitler of the 21st century,” Goncharenko said.

Speaking about attempts at a peaceful settlement, the deputy pointed out that diplomats should talk and try to find a solution to the problem, but the military still needs to prepare. 

“Ukraine is now creating a territorial defense and tens of thousands of Ukrainians are joining it. You need to understand that every Ukrainian city will turn into a fortress on the way of the Russian occupier. This is the only thing that will stop Putin,”

Goncharenko assessed the readiness of society for a possible invasion. He pointed out that there is indeed tension among Ukrainians now, but there is no panic. People follow the news and the main indicator of readiness is thousands of Ukrainians who go to the territorial defense. They show that Ukraine is ready for war, people are ready to defend the country with weapons in their hands.

Earlier, UNIAN has already reported that the United States does not rule out “military opposition” in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine.
