The Kremlin needed the Russian-American meeting only to convince the Americans to increase pressure on Ukraine and force it into de facto capitulation, The Washington Post reported , citing analysts.

According to Tatyana Stanovaya, also from the Carnegie Center, Moscow is now trying to force the United States to pressure Kyiv to accept Russian conditions “as the only viable path to peace.”
Putin-Witkoff talks in Moscow
As UNIAN reported, the Kremlin stated that Vladimir Putin did not reject the American plan to end the war in Ukraine during his meeting with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to Dmitry Peskov , the first direct exchange of views took place, during which some proposals were accepted and others deemed unacceptable, which he called “a working process for finding a compromise.”
Peskov emphasized that Moscow will adhere to the principle of silence in the negotiations and hopes for the same restraint from the United States, adding that the Russian side is ready to hold as many meetings as necessary to reach an agreement, and that a potential telephone conversation between Putin and the US President is possible at any time, although experts must still work out a solution.

If putler thought his prison trash could take the rest of Donbas, he wouldn’t be trying to convince TACO to pressure Ukraine. putler is seeing his country destroyed piece by piece, he’s in no position to dictate anything.
