Putin in China calls war against Ukraine “crisis” and mentions talks with Trump

President of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin, made a statement about the war against Ukraine during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin.

He called it the “Ukrainian crisis” and thanked Beijing, Delhi and other partners for their alleged efforts to resolve it. “We widely appreciate the efforts of China, India, and our other strategic partners to help resolve the ‘Ukrainian crisis,'” putin said.

“The crisis in Ukraine did not arise as a result of russia’s attack, but as a result of a coup d’état in Ukraine, which was supported and provoked by the West. And then attempts to suppress the resistance of those regions of Ukraine and those people who did not accept or support this coup by means of armed forces.

And the second reason for the crisis is the West’s constant attempts to draw Ukraine into NATO, which, as we have repeatedly emphasized and said, and for many years, posed a direct threat to russia’s security,” putin said.

He also referred to the talks with US President Donald Trump, which took place in Alaska. “The understandings reached at the recent russian-American summit in Alaska, I hope, also go in this direction, opening the way to peace ‘in Ukraine,'” he said.

According to putin, he has already reported on the results of the talks to Chinese leader Xi Jinping and will inform other SCO leaders about them.

As a reminder, analysts believe that Moscow, despite participating in the summit in China, receives limited benefits: oil and gas contracts with China are mainly beneficial to Beijing, financial corridors remain tactical, and new transport routes bypass russia.

The “anti-Western bloc” exists only in words: China plays it cool and uses russia for its own interests, while Moscow tries to create an image of parity, giving up part of its sovereignty for the illusion of big politics.
