Russia’s representative in the peace talks on Ukraine , the head of the Federation Council’s Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin, suggested that a ceasefire agreement will not be reached in 2025.
As the negotiator stated in an interview with the Rossiya-24 channel, positive developments in the process of resolving the conflict in Ukraine are possible, but probably not in the near future, quoted by The Moscow Times.
“Maybe not this year or at the end of this year,” Karasin said, predicting progress on the ceasefire.
He also said the meetings in Saudi Arabia were “calm” and “constructive,” but acknowledged their lack of effectiveness. “It would be naive to expect any breakthrough results at the first meeting,” he said.
Karasin added that “in principle, it is possible to work with the American delegation” because its representatives “listen, perceive, and oppose some of their positions.” Putin’s negotiator is confident that negotiations with the US will continue.
