The Russian leader said he wouldn’t like an arms race now, but that would become reality if the U.S. deployed its new missiles in Europe
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that his country was ready for a new bipolar military escalation like the 1962 Cuban crisis.
“Putin’s comments, made to Russian media late on Wednesday, follow his warning that Moscow will match any U.S. move to deploy new missiles closer to Russia by stationing its own missiles closer to the United States or by deploying faster missiles or both. Putin detailed his warning for the first time, saying Russia could deploy hypersonic missiles on ships and submarines which could lurk outside U.S. territorial waters if Washington now moved to deploy intermediate-range nuclear weapons in Europe”, reads the story by Reuters.
“(We’re talking about) naval delivery vehicles: submarines or surface ships. And we can put them, given the speed and range (of our missiles)… in neutral waters. Plus they are not stationary, they move and they will have to find them,” Putin claimed as quoted by the Kremlin’s press office.
The head of the Russian state mentioned the hypersonic missiles developed by the Russian military industry experts 0 in terms of the current tensions between the two global firepowers, the U.S. and Russia. “They (the tensions) are not a reason to ratchet up confrontation to the levels of the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s. In any case that’s not what we want,” said Putin. “If someone wants that, well OK they are welcome. I have set out today what that would mean. Let them count (the missile flight times)”, the Russian leader said.

The terrorist is forgetting one small thing. The US can park a sub loaded with nukes less than 100 miles from St. Petersburg, so how fast a missile travels is totally irrelevant.
Russia cannot afford an arms race at this time or in the foreseeable future.its primary bargaining chips are its warheads and delivery vehicles, tactical and strategic, which are reaching the end of their lifespans faster than they can be replaced.
Russia needs arms control in the short term to feed its great-power narrative, which is a crucial domestic political tool and a foundation of Putin’s leadership.
It appears the tiny bluffer really believes the US can’t see his ships. He is surrounded by yes men and is detached from reality. In reality the US satellites can see his Botox marks
You don’t need a satellite to see smoke billowing out, hundreds of metres in the atmosphere. 😁
The little idiot knows damned well that mafia land stands no chance against the US. One day, all those nuclear missiles will be too old and dilapidated to be of any use. What then? It has only the fraction of our industrial capabilities and it loses scientists and engineers faster than it can educate.
Ahem… didn’t the ruskies lose the challenge back then?…
