Putin announced payments of 50 thousand rubles to residents of besieged Leningrad

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to pay at a time 50 thousand rubles to citizens of Russia who were awarded the medal “For the Defense of Leningrad” and the badge “Inhabitants of besieged Leningrad”, according to the Kremlin website.

“Supporting the blockade is our sacred moral duty. In connection with the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Road of Life, I propose to make a one-time payment, “- said Putin during a video conference with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.

Putin offered to pay 50 thousand rubles each to citizens of the Russian Federation permanently living in Russia, as well as in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transnistria.

After the meeting, Putin signed a decree on a lump sum payment to residents of besieged Leningrad and people awarded the medal “For the Defense of Leningrad”.
