“Pure treachery and populism”: two parties staged a boycott of Zelenskyi in the Bundestag

Today, Zelensky spoke in the German parliament, and several dozen deputies defiantly ignored him.

The speech of the President of Ukraine in the German parliament was boycotted by two populist parties – the left “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht” (ASV) and the right “Alternative for Germany” (AdN). BILD writes about it .

The head of the ASV, Klaus Ernst, assured the German mass media that his party condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but it is alleged that Zelenskyy today is contributing to the “advancement of an extremely dangerous spiral of escalation” and increases the risk of a nuclear conflict.

“I hear the suffering of people in Ukraine. But I also see the other side. I see many Ukrainian men who are no longer interested in this war, who are in Germany because they avoid war,” he said.

According to Ernst, he does not need to listen to the speech of Zelensky, who supposedly does not represent the opinion of the majority of Ukrainians, but now he can use German weapons to strike Russia.

“I don’t want to feel compelled to applaud someone who is pushing Germany – Europe – into a new world war. I don’t want to do that,” said the head of the ASV.

BILD deputy editor-in-chief Paul Ronzheimer described the boycott of Zelensky by right-wing and left-wing populists as “pure treachery and cheap populism.”

“Every politician is free to criticize Zelenskyi and reject the course of the [German] federal government. This is part of our democracy. But the fact that the same politicians who want to negotiate with Putin do not even want to listen to Zelenskyi is a self-revelation that cannot be surpassed,” – he declared.

According to Ronzheimer, the boycott of Zelenskyi by populists in the Bundestag shows what course Germany will take if AdN and ASV come to power.

“Germany will be on the side of the war criminal Putin. We will leave the country that was attacked to fend for itself and form an alliance with the war criminal,” the journalist warns.

Scandals with the Alternative for Germany party

As UNIAN wrote, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized the Alternative for Germany party for the praise they received from Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Earlier, the president of the Russian Federation said that he does not see “signs of neo-Nazism” in the actions of this party. According to him, Russia is ready to work with anyone who is ready to cooperate with the aggressor country.

We also reported that the Russian Federation conducted one of the largest bribery operations in Europe. The investigation started in the Czech Republic led to searches of Petr Bystron , a leading member of the Alternative for Germany party and candidate #2 for the European Parliament from this party. He was one of the ardent opponents of sending Western weapons to Ukraine and advocated the lifting of sanctions against Russia.

    • I can answer this: Because the way too liberal Supreme Court of Germany, the Verfassungsgericht, has put up a much too high legal hurdle towards banning of radical parties. 😣

  1. So, we have Nazis and Nazi supporters in Germany again. What ever happened to the slogan, “Never Again!”?

    • It’s amazing what a large amount of cash will do. The German govt needs to launch a thorough investigation into these nazis.

      • Sure … there’s a lot the German government should do, but isn’t. It’s no wonder the coalition parties have done so miserable during the recent EU elections.

        • Sure, but let’s not forget that 16 years of Merkel ignorance and procrastrination created that huge backlog of problems. 😠

          • She is not guilty alone, Mr. Gray. Most of German politics and the entire German media carried the fat slob on a shield. She was untouchable, regardless of what shitty problems she caused.

      • If their voters had more brains and integrity, these disgusting parties would not exist.
