Several dozens of people are considered dead following the crackdown on mass protests that erupted in Iran last Friday.

This follows from the message of the UN High Commissioner’s Office, which noted that during the protests, many participants were injured, and more than a thousand people were arrested.

According to the UN, protests are taking place in 40 or more cities and towns of Iran.

However, some users of social networks report hundreds of dead.

The reason for the protests was the order of the Iranian government to raise gas prices from November 15. The increase was twofold, which shocked the population.

Gradually, protests began to span the entire country.

Soon, political slogans were added to economic ones: To stop sponsoring Islamic movements abroad, to stop foreign policy, which turns Iran into a rogue country, laden with heavy economic sanctions.

People at the rallies chanted: “Death to the dictator”, “They lie to us that the United States is our enemy, a real enemy runs the country!”

In the evening, November 17, Iranian authorities cut off the Internet throughout the country in order to stop the dissemination of reports on protests that are ignored by official media.

At the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018, anti-government protests took place in Iran as well, which resulted in the death of 20 people.
