Prosecutors in Paris have demanded that Marine Le Pen , the de facto leader of the far-right National Union party, be sentenced to five years in prison and bar her from holding public office for the same term. DW writes about it .
If the court accepts the charge, the 56-year-old Le Pen will not be able to run in the 2027 French presidential election. The accusers also demand that the party be fined two million euros.
