The Russian dictator promised he would do so, but did not specify when.
Lukashenka again asked for the title from Putin / REUTERS
The unrecognized president of Belarus once again begged the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the rank of colonel. The leader of the Russian Federation agreed to do this.
Both spoke publicly about this at a press conference following the talks.
One of the journalists asked Putin if he awarded Lukashenka the rank of colonel, he replied: “Alexander Grigoryevich does not need the head of another state to award him the rank. He himself is a big boss.”
Lukashenka retorted: “It would be nice if I was also a colonel. The truth is that he (Putin – UNIAN) promised me, but still has not appropriated it.”
Putin replied: “If we promised, we will do it.
As UNIAN reported earlier, in early February, Lukashenka said that Putin had promised him the military rank of colonel , but had not yet kept his promise.
“I’m a lieutenant colonel, but I can’t hang the star of a generalissimo or a general for myself. Putin is a colonel, he promised me the rank of colonel, but he still hasn’t awarded me,” the Belarusian politician was indignant in a conversation with Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov.
To a clarifying question about what military rank the president of Russia could grant him, Lukashenka replied: “Colonel of the Russian army.”
