Destinus has ramped up production of Ruta cruise missiles to nearly 300 units per month — more than the whole of Europe produced in a year before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Destinus made this announcement on the official website.

The total number of Ruta B1 missiles produced has exceeded 1,750.

To sustain this production rate, the company has established in-house manufacturing of engines, airframes, avionics and guidance systems. This allows it to independently control the key stages of the production process.

For example, the company is mass-producing T150 turbojet engines with a thrust of approximately 1.5 kN. They are used in the Ruta Block 1 and are also supplied to other weapons manufacturers.

Destinus is expected to be able to meet European market demand for propulsion systems of this class as early as 2027, including orders for Ukraine.

At the same time, no Chinese components are used in production. Although cooperation with Chinese suppliers could reduce costs and speed up missile manufacturing, the supply chain has been organised without their involvement.

Destinus CEO Mykhailo Kokorych noted that as missile production increases, the main challenge for European armed forces is their practical deployment. In particular, it is necessary to establish dedicated units and develop infrastructure for storage, maintenance and target designation. Ruta Block 2

In addition to ramping up production of the base version, Destinus announced the start of production of the larger Ruta Block 2 cruise missile. According to updated company data, it is designed to carry a 250 kg payload and has a range of more than 700 km.

Unlike Block 1, the new variant can be stored, transported and launched from a single container. This simplifies logistics and deployment, particularly when large missile stockpiles need to be built up.

Militarnyi previously reported on the design changes introduced in the Ruta Block 2. The new variant features a box-shaped fuselage and an integrated wing-folding mechanism, allowing the missile to be housed in a canister.

The Ruta Block 2 is also equipped with a solid-fuel booster that provides initial acceleration during launch. This allows the missile to be launched directly from the canister without the need for a separate launch rail.

Ukraine is already using Ruta cruise missiles to strike Russian targets. In particular, in July, reports emerged that Russian forces had found debris from these missiles, providing one of the first public confirmations of their combat use.
